Rotoscoping for 'Encounter Planet' (2015)

I was an animator for the project, 'Encounter Planet', a short science-fiction film by Georgie Brown and Tim Carlier. 'Two opposing races of aliens both arrive at the same planet with hopes of colonising it, but wish to avoid starting a war. Tensions arise, a battle is inadvertently started and an interspecies romance saves the day on Encounter Planet!'

Lead by Animation Lead, Antonio Torresan, the animation team were given short clips of actors to rotoscope (line and colour).

I was assigned Scene 5, Shot 7 of the actual Encounter Planet footage, which is 5 seconds of Tim walking towards the camera wearing a mask and costume. I worked in 12 frames per second.

I rotoscoped the body for this shot. Tape and cardboard were worn by the actor as a costume guide.
